What a week!

I have over 200 Students here in Turkey. I teach them all English. This is my frist year teaching and it is really been quite an experience for me.
The first shock I had teaching was the lack of care that average teachers have for their students here in Turkey. It really quite saddened me, honestly. The students here are told if they do not understand something, that they are stupid. If they are stupid then too bad, they will not be able to learn anything and kind of gives the student a "sucks to be you" attitude. I came home when I found this out and cried and Snuggle said that when he was about 14 or 15 he was in a Math class and did not know the answer to a problem and so the teacher flat out hit him for not knowing. And Thus-ly children are raised here. that teachers are mean. I have made little things for my students. We have had activities and many of my students started out in class hating Americans hating English and many have said We love you Hoca! (Hoca is pronounced ho-ja, and means teacher in Turkish). I have been really grown to love my students and love how wonderful they are!  This is why I was really sad to hear today when I got a phone call from Byshe the only non family friend I have in Turkey.. (non family as in Snuggles family :P) That I will not be returning to Çerkezköy, Turkey for the remainder part of the school year because she was informed of the tragic news just Monday. I really am sad because a few of my students are Seniors this year and will be going off to University to become Engineers and I will not maybe ever see them again. Of course this is only my first year and so there will be many many more students as the years pass that I may not ever see again. I was not able to say good bye. But again that is part of the teaching experience. I will get many more students and I hope all of them the very best in life that joy and happiness can ever bring my wonderful students. This is why I am blogging this post. To publicly tell my students that I hope them the very best most wonderful wishes they can ever imagine. I hope that they are happy and healthy in this life and that they can do anything their heart desires and be anything they dream of being. I want to tell them that they are wonderful and amazing young adults with bright happy futures ahead and that I hope that they will find joy and see life and the world as a wonderful happy brilliant place to live and that life is wonderful for them.
